What is Kenpo Karate
Kenpo Karate is noted for its fast, explosive hand movements. What stands out are the self-defence techniques with multiple hand and foot movements.
The traditional karate ethos of ‘one-strike’ being sufficient is important and practical. However, Kenpo’s ‘multiple-strikes’ self-defence techniques provide a greater margin of error and provide various options available in any given situation.
Kenpo Karate is fundamentally an American martial art system using modern and innovative teaching techniques.
At Integrity Kenpo, our focus is to provide a structured self-defence system for adults and children of all abilities.
As a new student, basic moves will be taught which will be added to as one’s proficiency increases. These moves will become more sophisticated as the student develops to a point where a number of moves in any combination can be applied in any situation.
Kenpo Karate came to Jersey in the early 1970’s and together with Ireland, was the main hub for the art outside of America. Our Senior Grand Master Mr Ed Parker visited Jersey frequently in the 1980’s prior to his passing.
During his time on the island, Mr Parker directly tested and promoted members to their 1st and 2nd degree black belts.
Jersey has always had a strong following in Kenpo and Integrity Kenpo works with other clubs in Jersey to promote and expand the teachings as laid down by Mr Parker.

The advantage of the Kenpo Karate system is that all abilities and ages are able to practice it. Kenpo can be adapted to the individual rather than the individual adapting to the art. this makes Kenpo a stand out system against other martial arts.
